Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

Side-by-Side

This is the most popular double pushchair. It is usually able to accommodate two children side-by-side. They tend to be wider than single pushchairs. This means they are less agile on the footpaths and may be a bit difficult to navigate through kerbs with a car seat attached. The extra size makes them easier to maneuver through doorways, and they are more evenly distributed, so it is less burdensome to carry around on your back.

Many models can be used from birth as twin prams and accept a carrycot, or two car seats. Some can even be converted to one mode by adding the basket (like the Cybex Venus).

You can use the pushchair as twins from birth by putting in two newborn cocoons, each costing PS59. These cocoons create lie-flat areas that are enclosed. The large shopping basket that is behind the seat lets it be used in mono mode with just one child. Tandem

If you plan to have twins, you'll need a tandem triple pushchair. This will allow the children to sit together and interact with each other. They are ideal for activities like visiting the zoo, since the children will be able to look at all the animals together. They are also great for parents who need to keep an eye on their toddler and the other eye on their infant, as they can see both of them simultaneously.

Some tandem pushchairs offer ultra versatility as they can change back to single mode. This is especially useful if you plan to have more children than two (or if your eldest child isn't a need for the buggy anymore). This will save you from having to store an empty buggy which can be costly.

A tandem pushchair can also be used to carry two carrycots or a car with a buggy seat. This allows you to create an entire travel system from the outset and save money on additional purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer and may be less stable when you bump into kerbs and going over uneven surfaces. They also tend to need dismantling in order to fit into cars.
