World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item upgrader kit. It's an indicator of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor is possible using the item level.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

It's not the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item upgrading's level. However every item will have at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more useful in early game runs than later ones since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Furthermore there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrading Upgrader CORE client config.
