World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item upgrader kit it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it can be improved upon the reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.

In the endgame, you will often find that the Best item upgrade way to improve your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

The use of Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback because it can cause the Item upgrader kit to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits water. This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial condition, which requires the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
